WHY dōTERRA?

Essential oils are hot these days. (Evidence: even places like Wal-Mart and Bed, Bath & Beyond are trying to cash in on the craze.)

Do the research, and you’ll quickly discover that everyone and their mom has an opinion on what oils to buy. There’s a lot of controversy regarding sourcing, claims, what’s responsible, et cetera.

Then you add the “direct selling” aspect with a company like dōTERRA… and things can get very heated, very quickly!

So if you’re considering dōTERRA oils, and our dōTERRA team… I want to help by openly sharing WHY I chose dōTERRA, and the factors you should consider in making your decision – no matter what oils you choose.

Before the bullet points, a personal note…

I enjoyed dōTERRA oils as a user – i.e., I did not share or sell the oils in any way – for a full two years before I began the business. For a full two years, I invested at least $100 (usually more) in oils, every single month.

Why?

Because I love the products. Because they provided support. Because they made my life better.

I began my dōTERRA journey in the middle of my pregnancy when I was experiencing the typical second trimester challenges. I had a fairly easy pregnancy, but I did experience nausea a lot of the time, and later on, massive fatigue. After the baby came, there were the mood swings and the adjustment to my new role as mother.

The oils truly helped. I fell in love.

I also fell in love with doTERRA as a company, their heart and how they do business. As priestess and magician, I fell in love with their mission: to empower families with the tools of health and wellness. (The oils are great in ritual, too.)

And I was, and still am, over the moon that dōTERRA took a fairly esoteric alternative health modality and has put it in the hands of everyone. That excited me back in 2013 and it excites me now.

 

So Here’s Why I Love dōTERRA…

1) Mission driven with a big heart.

dōTERRA’s mission is “a healer in every home.” They see themselves, and behave as, a company providing health and wellness solutions. They invest heavily in science and research. They chose the direct selling model of distribution for very specific reasons, which I’ll share below.

dōTERRA is out to empower people around the world, in over 40 countries, to take care of their health and to grow their wealth. To that end, they put their money where their mouth is – big time.

2) Superior product.

dōTERRA became the largest essential oils distributor in the world in 2015 – just 7 years after its founding – and remain so today. Their revenues surpassed $1 billion that year. Why? Because their product is awesome. It’s just that simple.

(No, revenue of $1B is not what makes the oils amazing, but it is a reflection of the quality, love and care that goes into the products. No direct selling company gets to $1B with a product without an amazing product.)

dōTERRA is the only product I’ve ever come across that literally sells itself. I’ve seen it firsthand, over and over again: people experience the oils, they want the oils, they buy the oils. You can’t fake that. Keep reading for more on what makes the oils amazing.

3) Commitment to quality.

I want to work with people and companies who back up their values with action and cash. dōTERRA does both.

For example, the essential oils industry has no standards, so to demonstrate their commitment to quality, doTERRA created their own: the CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® protocol.

Yes, they get some flak for this. Yes, some quibble that this was just a “marketing ploy.” My answer to that is… are you freakin’ kidding me?

Let me get this straight: there was no standard, so to elevate and normalize this alternative health modality, they created a stringent standard and then hold themselves accountable to it. Do you know of any other companies that have done that? I don’t!

Also, they are fully transparent about their standards. Call them up and they’ll talk to you for as long as it takes to answer your questions. There is no funny business here.

4) Responsible sourcing.

Again this is a place where people get all up in arms. We could quibble ‘til the cows come home but dõTERRA shows through their actions that they are committed to high quality sourcing and empowering people around the globe.

dõTERRA searches high and low to find the best locations for growing the plants for each oil. They intentionally choose harvest times to get the best product, they work with local farmers who have been growing and harvesting the plants, they pay them fairly, they seek to lift communities up and give more life to all. Which is the first Divine law, above all.

5) Third party testing.

Every batch of dōTERRA oil is tested by third parties, to ensure standards are maintained. Testing happens throughout the entire process, every step of the way. 7 tests are performed to make sure they are free of pesticide, herbicide, solvents and are safe for therapeutic use. 6) Direct selling model that empowers women and families worldwide.

Yes, direct selling is a HUGE plus!

Instead of throwing millions of dollars at big corporations and lowering quality standards to get shelf space in stores, dōTERRA invests that money in the people who use and share the oils. (Note: 75% of dōTERRA members are users only and never build the business. You never have to share the oils – ever.)

Personally, I would much, much rather see my money go directly into the pocket of the woman who took the time and care to share the oils with me than to see it go to a big corporation. dōTERRA is sold by real human beings, who are driven to help others and have a real stake in the company’s success.

Who are those people? Mothers. Husbands. Fathers. Families. People who are just like you, looking to make great money by doing good things and making the planet a better place.
